Has anyone had success with ads on some of the more popular romance / erotica sites? I've set a monthly advertising budget and I'm just wondering where I should spend those advertising dollars? I've found half a dozen sites, which seem to get decent traffic. They reach my target audience and fit within my budget but I'm wondering if I'll benefit from using this strategy.

Frankly, I'd rather pay for advertising and concentrate more on writing than spending too much time on social networking if I'm not going to reap the rewards. Based on everything I've read from those who have been successful at sp, the general concensus is to focus on writing the next book so that's what I'm trying to do. Still, I know I have to make some effort to get my books noticed. Any help or feedback regarding the success / failiure of your paid promotional efforts would be appreciated!  Smiley

Ads don't work as well for me, I find networking is good. The only ads I like are on pixel of ink kindle boards, kindle sponsorships, kindle3, and big things like that really pay off, frugal ereader...

but ads on various sites usually not too good for me...but each is different.

I am getting ready to come out with my debut romance novel. I would be interested in hearing about the sites you found. I do not have an advertising budget right now, but it might be a future possibility. Would you mind coming back and sharing any advertising results?

Back when I was writing paranormal romance I used to take out ads on romance sites and in the Romantic Times magazine. As best I could tell my ads in those places had zero effect but maybe things have changed recently. I do approach advertising with the long term in mind but still like to see some increase in sales, even a tiny one, or I probably won't try advertising in that spot again. These days I save my advertising dollars for Kindle specific sites, rather than genre specific ones, because I've had more success that way.

But of course my experience may not be everyone's, so good luck with whatever you try. Smiley

Good luck, Cheryl, I hope you find some sites to work with.  About 6 months ago when my first book came out, I tried to find as many romance review sites as I could find, especially ones that seemed like they have a decent-sized audience.  I contacted about five of them to see about sending a copy for review, getting info about ads, etc.  I don't think I ever heard back from a single one of them.  So I'll be interested to hear what kind of luck you have.
