Are "screen protectors" all anti-glare protectors or are they two different animals? I find Fire's glare to be really annoying and would love to find something to dull it. It is my understanding that the screen itself is so well made that a protector would not be necessary. Can anyone suggest a cure?

I think they are two different animals - but it depends on the brand too. Some of the anti-glare protectors distort the sharpness of the images on the screen. I had this happen with a cheapo protector for my Android phone. The M-Edge protectors are amazing! I have one on my K4 and I can't even see it. They are spendy, but definitely worth it.

Shoot, I don't see the screen protector listed under Fire stuff at the M-Edge store. They have it for the Nook Color -- are the screens the same size?

Kimberly - Are you saying the m-edge protectors would work as an anti-glare device? By the way your menagerie is wonderful. All handsome guys (gals?)

Yep, the M-Edge is anti-glare. I am very impressed with the quality. And thanks! Two guys, two gals. The westie (Abby) and the cat (Sophie) are the girls. The schnauzer (Dexter) and the shihtzu/bichon (Oscar) are the wild boys.

Member GeoffThomas has been raving about his anti-glare and fingerprint screen protector. I'll see if I can get him to post here about it...

I love the gorilla glass but it is a fingerprint magnet and has a lot of glare. So it got the Kindle Fire Anti-Glare Screen Protector 2-Pack with Cleaning Cloth by Marware - Lifetime Warranty, List Price: $14.99. It goes on easy and does the job. It makes me happier with the Fire. Just sayin......

Do you notice any of the distortions that others have commented on in the reviews? It sounds like what they are saying is what I experienced with the anti-glare protectors on my phone. One of the reviewers says: it feels strange - not to me. does not allow your fingers to slide smoothly - mine slide just fine. distorts text - no. shows more fingerprints than the real screen - not possible firstly, and almost no fingerprints - easy to clean off. The Gorrilla Glass takes a lot more work to clean.
I have (as I type) peeled back a corner and noticed that when reading text, there is a slight "pebbly" look to the clear coating. I would in no way call this distortion. And it is not at all noticeable with video or apps, just with text. And it does not bother me. The glare on the bare screen makes me have to move it around in order to be able to read-that is much worse.

Many thanks folks. I contacted m-edge to locate the proper screen/anti-glare product for the Fire and just received the response that they did not make one and at this time have no plans to do so. Kimberly what are you using? Can you send me a link? Geoff thanks for the clarifications of the points brought up in the Az reviews. The marware obviously is under consideration. Betsey thanks for your monitoring. Always so helpful.

Let me recommend an alternative. BoxWave Amazon Kindle Fire ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector (Single Pack with Cleaning Cloth and Applicator Card)- Matte Anti-Fingerprint Screen Guard Cover for the 7" Multi-Touch Kindle Fire Screen - Limited Time Special Price! $1.99 I have this product on my K2. The K2 was non-glare to start with. But I wanted to protect the glass screen and wanted to keep the non-glare properties. Other protectors produced more glare than the stock glass does. This one has been wonderful. And look at the price. $1.99. Can't beat that with a stick. I am going to order one and replace the current proctector. Just sayin.....

I have the Kindle 4 that is using the M-Edge screen protector. I just ordered some of the M-Edge screen protectors for my Nook Color. What I am wondering, though, is since the Kindle Fire and Nook Color both have 7" screens, wouldn't the Nook Color screen protector work for the Kindle Fire? I know the actual device dimensions aren't the same, but I think that's because the NC unit is just bigger (wider, etc.) but screen is still 7".

Since I haven't tried the M-Edge protector on a color device, it could be that the anti-glare does that little distortion thing too... but I won't know until I actually put this on my NC. (But I hope I am as satisfied with this as much as I am with the K4 screen protector.) I'm one picky person when it comes to this kind of thing. Air bubbles drive me insane.

Please note that the special deal is for 1 protector. Some deals are for two but nowhere near this good price. The other thing to watch out for is that most companies (Boxwave included) have a crystal-clear protector and a crystal clear non-glare protector. So if you don't read carefully they look like the same thing. I want the non-glare version for sure for the e-ink devices. But for me, I also want the non-glare for the lcd screens. Even though with the light coming through there is less impact from glare. But without the non-glare finish you still have to be careful what angle the light source is to the screen. So bottom line is I like the Boxwave product, the non-glare one, and this deal is for only one protector.

The special from at Amazon - "BoxWave Amazon Kindle Fire ClearTouch Anti-Glare Screen Protector" seems to be very specific about it's non-glare function. Sure hope that's what I receive but between the 1.99 price and Amazon's return policies I'm not overly concerned.
