Trying to remove screensaver hack, but have issues...

This isn't your normal request, in that there are a few complications:

• I don't know *which* screensaver hack / jailbreak I used
• I lost the files in a computer crash, so I can't go back and look at the installs (or use the uninstaller that came with it)

I'm on a Kindle Keyboard (WiFi), running 3.1 (558700031).

Does anyone know of a way to find out what I used to perform the initial hack? I'm willing to post any information necessary, I'd just need to know what to post...

If you don't get a response on this thread, I would suggest you PM NiLUJe who is the member here most closely involved in writing the jailbreaks and hacks. I'm sure he'll be able to advise you which uninstaller to use.

Check the folders on your Kindle when it's plugged to a computer, do you see a linkjail folder? a linkss folder? If you do, there's an 'info.txt' file in there with a link to the appropriate thread .

There was a linkss directory, and it said that I was using 0.18.n, but the uninstaller didn't work.

Okay, for those who might have been wondering: I was on 3.1, but hadn't updated my jailbreak. So, the resolution was:

• Install the updated jailbreak
• Install the updated screensaver hack
• Remove the screensaver hack
• Remove the jailbreak
• Update the OS
• Reinstall jailbreak and screensaver hack

There might be some steps that weren't required (I'm not sure I needed to update the ss hack before removing it), but this worked in the end.
