So what is the real difference?

What I have now is the Klassic (very first Kindle).  I don't need to surf the internet but I DO want to be able to download books wherever I am (except at home--there is no cell phone access in my holler).  I need to be able to turn it on and get my books when I drive out, though.

Would th regular $99 touch do that or do I need the 3G?  I don't want to have to be searching for a wifi hot spot and am unsure if that's needed w/ the regular touch or not.

Thanks!

With the "Regular" Touch, you will need a wifi connection to be able to download books.  With the 3G Touch, you will be able to download books wherever there is a 3G network.

If you truly need (or just really want) to download books everywhere, you need 3G.  That will have you covered everywhere except very remote areas where there is no cell service.

Yeah, unfortunately it sounds like you do.  I could see paying the difference when you could access the whole internet with it, but just for being able to reach Amazon, it seems like a lot more to pay.
