well i would really like to have a wrist strap like those that come with digital cameras or handheld GPS or some flashlights

there is no spot on the kindle to put one. But if one knew a safe place to drill you could easily make one. YES I KNOW drilling holes in electronics is a bad idea and i would never do it unless i was 120% sure about it. in order to be sure i would have to take it apart.

does anyone know of a guide or instructions on how to open the case. BTW i have the base model kindle its $79 on amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051QVESA/ref=famstripe_k

or if you have any ideas on how to attach a wrist strap

i know im a newb but i really dont want to hear a bunch of comments about how dumb it is to drill into a kindle.this is a LAST resort and would only do it if i was 100% positive it i wouldnt do it, plus i think i will be able figure out a different option to my problem. but either way i would like to know how to take it apart. just from a knowledge standpoint since it contains no visable way screws or tabs

Google is your friend. Reports state impossible to take apart, and worst yet to put back together.

How about something like this? http://www.handeholder.com/

It isn't really a wrist strap, but more of a hand strap.

A book is like a garden.....carried in the pocket.

May I suggest a carrying bag with a wrist strap?  I know this one looks too girly, but I have some black faux leather I could make you one that looks more masculine Smiley
