In Love...with my Kindle!

Ok, so I may not be looking correctly so I come to all of you...it's been a while since I've been on.

A friend bought my 7 & 9 year old a Kindle 4 each, I registered them both tonight under my account. Is there a way to remove the books without deleting each one (they are from my Kindle) since it's all under the same account?

TIA!

You need to either deregister their kindles after you load books on each time or start a new account for just them.

So you are worried they will go to the archived books and download your books. You could deregister their Kindles after you download the books you want them to have and register them again when you want to get them books again. It might be easier to register theirs on a new account just for them. You could then put a prepaid via credit card on their account with a low balance so that they can't buy books with it. When you want to give them books just apply an Amazon gift card on the account.

Simply put no.  The best way to get around this problem is to create a second account where you register the the kindle for the kids and give them access only to what you want them to have access to while you are registered to the master account that has everything.

So I understand the situation to be that YOU have a Kindle and have bought your two young sons Kindles and registered them to your account.  Your concern is that you don't want them to have access to all the books you've purchased as they may not be appropriate for them.

While the kindles are registered, they WILL have full access, as others have noted.  You can load books to the devices and de-register them and the books will remain on the kindles. (Note this doesn't work with the Fire.)  It does make things a tad more complicated when you want to give them new books.

Kathy's suggestion is a good one, I think:  Create a new account for them and register the Kindles there.  You can buy books for the account and they won't have access to any of yours.  You can fund it with a prepaid debit or gift cards so they don't go overboard.  Make the email address something YOU will check and you'll know if they go trying to buy books they shouldn't and can respond as needed if that happens.  If it was me, there would be strict ground rules and consequences for not following the rules that would be made clear at the outset.

Now, if you've already purchased books for them on YOUR account, you're kind of stuck.  If you ask nicely, Amazon might let you get a refund on those books -- if there are not too many -- so you can re-purchase them on their account.

Note, also, that books on THEIR account will not be available to YOU unless you also have a Kindle registered to their account.  If you want a book on ALL the devices, you'll either have to buy it twice or do the register/de-register dance.  Or you could register a "Kindle for" type app, just so you can keep an eye on things.  And, of course since it would be YOU who had the log in credentials for their account, you could check up on them whenever you want.

Good luck with whatever you decide. . .hope the boys enjoy their gifts!  I know my son would have!

Thank you everyone, I think registering them under their own account (using another of my e-mails) would be best. They would most likely read the same books anyhow so it would work better that way too...

I'm very lucky that a friend got them as their Christmas gift and my daughter is going to FREAK because she always reads on mine (I have a few of her books on there) and my son will be happy too..

They don't have access to Amazon and don't know how to use so I would be the one doing it..
