I've had the Kindle1 for a little over a year, and just got a Kindle Fire for Christmas!  Would like to give my first Kindle to my daughter...I had assigned a password to it and want to delete the password.  Is the only option a reset?  Or deregistering?  I think she'll want to keep some of my books on there too.  But I'm thinking she needs her own Amazon account to get set up....not sure where to go from here - Thanks for any help!

I think all you have to do is go into the settings and choose to turn off the password. (At least that's what it would be for the K2, K3, and K4.)

As kimberly suggests, it should be relatively easy to reset or remove the password. But be aware tht it's tchnically against Amazon's ToS toleave books on a kindle you give away or sell. Though probably not as big a deal if we're talking a household member.

The Kindle 1 did not have a password option.  You must have some other model of Kindle.  Password maintenance on other models is done through the menus, though, as others have said.

There wasn't a password function on the kindle 1 when I had one. Did it come with an update?

Okay - got it!  Its version 3.3, whichever one that is -- but found the disable password through the menu - just wasn't turning the pages to see it before! Thanks!

Ok, I understand now. Version 3.3 is the Kindle Keyboard, otherwise refered to as K3, not k1.
