New Kindle doesn't appear in store?

So I got some gift books to put on my new Kindle. When I enter the code, though, it only lists my old Kindle as the device to send them to. When I go to my account, the new Kindle is already there. Why doesn't it show up in the drop down menu when choosing a device to send the book to?

I sent the gift books to my old Kindle, and they arrived. Then I went to the website and from my account was able to manually select the new books to be delivered to the new Kindle. But they did not arrive! Maybe the servers are slow today? But they arrived instantly to my old one ...

Others are having problems so I agree the servers are probably going haywire with all the Kindles.
