Can my DH use the Special Offer that I got on my Kindle?  He has a Fire and there was an offer about instant videos today.  I have the code, can I give it to him to use?  He has his own Amazon account?

Codes can not be used by other than the SO user...I think Amazon's pretty clear on that.

if both devices are on the same account, then all you have to do is use the offer and he can watch whatever on his Fire.

I have a problem with the special offers on my Kindle Touch. My daughter and I share an Amazon.com account, and we both bought KTs with SO enabled. When I request information about a special offer that interests me, Megan gets the email about it. Since we both own our own Kindle Touches, and each is registered to the appropriate person, what do I do if I want to take advantage of one or more of the special offers?

Amazon only allows one special offer per account, no matter how many SO Kindles are registered to that account. If each Kindle claims an offer, they will all receive the same promo code; which of course, can only be used once. The codes will be emailed to the owner of the account.

It sounds like your daughter is the owner of that account, so you'll need to set up a separate account if you wish to take advantage of these special offers. But then, you'll no longer be able to share books. Quite a dilemma.

When Amazon first changed the policy on SOKs, I emailed KCS and they actually told me to deregister from one account and register to my own account in order to use the SO.  I was a little shocked by that reply and even email back for clarification!  I tried it once and really thought it was more trouble than it was worth for a $1 book but I might do it again if the offer is worth it.

Thanks for the replies. To clarify, though, if I wanted to take advantage of a SO, and none of the other users of the account wanted it, then I could use the code. (Megan, my other daughter, my son-in-law, and I all share an account. Sharing books far outweighs any SO that will come around.)

Thanks, again.

Oh yes, just like any book on the account, everyone on the account CAN use it, no one MUST.

Sure; it doesn't matter who uses it. The restriction is that only one offer may be redeemed per account.

Also note that if the offer is digital content, ownership resides with the owner of the account.

True.  While digital content can be downloaded onto any device on the account, if a device is deregistered from an account, the content should be removed from that device, per TOS.

However, keep in mind two things:

1) All KSO's on a single account will receive the same code number if one KSO claims the offer -- so, you must move your KSO off the account before anyone claims the offer

2) if you have multiple accounts and multiple KSO's (and thus, multiple claim codes), you can gift Kindle books back to the central account where you all share books...
