I bought the one they sell through Amazon for my K2 because it transfered with ownership. Does the Square deal transfer with ownership? Amazon: Kindle Warranty

Has anyone had any dealings with squaretrade (is it squaretrade or squaredeal?)? How are they to work with on warranty issues? Thanks

I'll ask again since people are choosing squaretrade but no one's answered and it's an important question, in my view.
Has anyone asked squaretrade if they'll cover battery replacement ($59) in the second year?
Remember that there's a deductible of $50, moreover, with squaretrade.
In the third year, most of this crowd will have moved on to another Kindle :-)

I ordered a SquareTrade warranty for my netbook computer just as insurance, since HP didn't offer an extended option. I stuck with the Lulu option for my DX. Thought about using SquareTrade, but after seeing a post on Amazon about feeling more comfortable with a warranty from Amazon, I tended to agree. It covers accidental breakage, too. I figured that with the amount of money I spent on it, the extra $100 was worth the peace of mind. Kindle DX Warranty

Yea, but most retailers and resellers almost always make a large commision on additional warranty, so this is more standard than it should be.

WHAT IS COVERED: Mechanical and electrical failures that occur during normal use of your item. Your item is covered for up to the full purchase price of your item (tax and shipping are excluded).

109 divided by 489 = 0.22290388548057259713701431492843. That's 22.3%, which is actually just under 1/4 of the price. Just saying.

For those of you who pay for their Kindles via American Express, remember that AX will add one year to the manufacturer's warranty. Why pay for an extended warranty? Warranties are nice, but you are actually betting the Kindle will fail. Think positive.

I ordered 1 for my KDX for $58.49 including accidental drops 1 for my K2 for $32.49 which does NOT include accidental drops as squaretrade does NOT offer that for any Kindles purchased 30 or more days ago. I also surprisingly was able to get one for my used K1 for $43.87 for 2yrs coverage..and of course it does not cover drops, but for 2yrs on a used Kindle I am ok with that.Oh and on used Kindles coverage starts 61 days after purchase date

Ok, but if you use the squaretrade kindle warranty for an accidental drop you have to pay $50. So then your at $108.49. Same price. I, personally, don't care about the 3rd year, because as fast as they are getting new types of kindles out, I don't see me having it 3 years. And I called squaretrade, and the rep didn't know if it covered battery changes. The one through Amazon does. He (squaretrade) said it "might" under the electrical, but then the battery is considered as a piece that should ware out, so it might not be covered. He was supposed to call me back, but didn't. Not sure I'm feeling the warmth of a CS like that. So, if I don't hear back soon, I'm getting the one on Amazon.

I'm trying to figure out how you get to $108 with squaretrade. I ordered last night with "accidential damage" coverage and my bill was a little over $50.

I was saying if you drop it/ damage it they have a $50 deductible added. You don't have to pay it for normal warranty but the damage part you do. That's why I said if you drop it the cost goes up to $108. Does that make sense? I don't plan on dropping mine, of course, but I factored in that cost in my headbecause, well, if imbuying the accidential policy I'll have to pay the deductable if I have to use the policy for that.

Yes, it does make sense. Also, if the battery goes during the 2nd year, Amazon definitely covers it and you know you get instant replacements there, well, within a few days. That's $59. With Squaretrade, I am reading different reps give different responses on that. This one today says they're not sure but it should be covered under electronics but on the other hand it might be wear and tear, so I'm more likely to go w/the Amazon warranty. I looked at my bank statements today and saw a purchase for something but couldn't remember what it was (this page had no vendor name on it) and then I remembered. Feb. 26. And then realized it was just 3 months I've had it as something I deliberated over after loving the K1 for 7 months. And so in less than a year I have bought 2 Kindles and now it may be a THIRD Kindle in 10 months. What's wrong with this picture? But I'll probably do it anyway. I just happen to like the Kindle and any new capabilities. I can always sell the Kindle 1. Then I think of what all I could fit on to a big SD card. And then I think of how long it would take to index it :-) :-) So I will likely sell it with cover after I get the DX, once I decide for sure. http://kindlezen.com has a terrific article on the pdf probs that Amazon should fix asap with the firmware or better licensing.
