I received a 3g wi fi Kindle for Christmas. I have downloaded about 30 books onto it and decided to charge it up as the battery was getting low. The orange lights stayed on for hours so I took it off only to find it frozen. I have tried to do a soft reset. and cannot find the hard reset hole in the back. Do you have any other ideas ans I have'nt even used it yet. Thanks

Linda--

Welcome to KindleBoards!  We'll see if we can get you sorted out.  I am going to move this to our Tips, Tricks and Troubleshooting forum as I think you'll get a better response there.

Which Kindle is it?  The Touch or the Keyboard.  On either one you should be able to do a hardware reset but there's no reset hole like there was on the first generation Kindle.  On the Keyboard model, you slide and hold the switch for about 40 seconds.  I assume the touch is similar except it's a press and hold. . .but I'm not certain about that as I don't have one of those. That's how it works on my Basic Kindle, however.

Also, make sure it's plugged in again before you try to reset it.  The Touch resets the same way.  From Amazon's web page:

Quote
Reset your Kindle Touch by pressing and holding the power button for 20 seconds. Release the power button. The reboot screen will appear.
If Kindle Touch is still unresponsive, try charging your Kindle Touch before resetting the device once again.
