I do not have wifi at my house.  I have a usb to micro usb transfer cable.  I had thought that I could download a book from the library straight thru the computer onto my kindle that is attached via usb cable.  But whenever I go to the library it only allows me to download to the "kindle for pc" program.

I tried downloading one of them free books from amazon, it shows his kindle but whenever I download it, it says next time I sync it will appear.  There is no wifi to sync it with.

Is there a way to do this without wifi?

How to download kindle books from the Arlington library to your PC & transfer to your kindle via usb cable

1.   Connect your kindle to your pc via usb cable

2.   From your pc, browse to the Arlington libraries kindle book section and select a kindle book.  I am getting Highland Heat.
3.   Click the “Place an OverDrive Request” next to the kindle book.

4.   Click “Proceed to checkout”

5.   Click “Confirm Checkout”

6.   Click “Get for Kindle”

7.   Here is the tricky part.  Click “Transfer via Computer”

8.   Click “Get library book”

9.   Now select the kindle that you have attached to your PC, in my case it is called Tammy’s Kindle.

10.   Save this file to your pc.

11.   My files automatically go to a folder called Downloads, you can right click on the file in the downloads window and select “Open Containing Folder”.

12.   Using Windows Explorer, I pulled up my downloads folder on the left and I opened the kindle (it is recognized by the pc as a removable drive) on the right.

13.   Copy and Paste the Book from your pc’s download folder over to the kindle’s Document folder.

14.   On the kindle press “disconnect” and unplug the usb cable.

There are some slight variations in the Overdrive software from library to library, for example our library says "add to cart" but the directions are essentially the same as guppy has provided.

Let us know if you need more help!
