<Kindle Touch> Just got my first Kindle and I have a quick question about Collections. If I have a book title on the home page and add it to a Collection, does the title remain on the home page (in addition to being in the Collection)? I thought it would behave like folder/subfolder on a PC, but I'm seeing it both places.

At the top of the page on the home screen, above the book titles on the right it most likely says title. If you scroll up to that you can then scroll right . Select Collections. That should accomplish what you want. The Kindle doesn't really sort by grouping things in folders, it just puts a tag on each item to place it in a collection. You can put a book in multiple collections this way if you wish. To show everything, instead of collections at the top, select title or author.

Intinst is right, you need to "sort by collections" and only the collections will show, and any items not in collections.  On the Kindle Touch, the collections will be in alphabetical order.

I keep having the problem of having books that I go to put in a collection and they stay on my home screen and will not go into the collection. It's like it just can't register the action. even with a hard reset it will not work. i've deleted and re-downloaded the books and sometimes that works. don't ask me why.

I dare say they go into the collection. . . but you probably have the sort still set to title, author, or most recent.  When you sort by collections, you'll see that it will show your collections with a number that says how many books are in each and any un-collected books after that.
