I'm just investigating Audible's audio books and trying one out.  I just downloaded one to my computer and then to my K3.
Rather than transfer the files to CD to listen in my car, can I plug the K3 into something to have it play through my car audio system?

Sure you can.

If you have a cassette player in your car, you can buy an adapter for about $5.

If you just have a cd player & radio, you can get an adapter that will play it through your speakers... Those are about $20 I think

If you have a newer car, it may have an auxiliary port on the front, and then you just buy a $10 cable and use that.

Thanks, I have a Honda Accord 08 and I just looked.  I found an Aux. inside my middle compartment next to my cell phone adapter plug in.  So I'm going to buy an adapter tomorrow and try it out.  It sure beats trying to make CD's. The transfer time to my K3 was very quick.

Heather,  I haven't been able to find a CD player adapter?  Haven't seen one in ages...

Betsy

Me neither.  Hubs has a satellite radio that he likes to use when we do car trips. . .it was always sort of a pain because the car has no cassette player, though it does have a CD player.  We couldn't use the cassette adapter and couldn't find a CD adapter.  And the antenna is on the rear of the vehicle so broadcasting on an unused FM frequency was problematic. . .plus which we had to change it as we drove because 'real' stations would come in and out of range.

So when the second set of lights on the installed radio went out -- to where we couldn't even tell what station we were on anymore -- we got a new one and made sure it had the auxiliary input.  Cheesy

My 2010 Ford has a USB port in the console box. The sound system recognizes my Kindle as an MP3 player.

I bought an Audio Cable today for $10 that works with my Kindle 3.
Scosche (retractable) Audio Cable for iphone, ipod & MP3.
I have the CD/Aux push button on my dash and that lets my kindle audio be selected to play what's on my Kindle in the Aux Mode.  Press again and it switches back to CD.

I'm very pleased to have asked the question and been successful in finding the cable.

Our newest car came out just as aux inputs were starting to be available...if we ever replace a radio, we'll make sure the new one has one.
