Hi there, I'm new to this board, as well as the Kindle owner community! I have been requesting a Kindle for at least the past two years, and my husband final went ahead and surprised me with one this Christmas! I was so excited! He got me the new Kindle Touch. While I love it, I am fearful of damaging it, as I can be quite clutsy (ex. I dropped it when pulling it from the box it was mailed in to show my mom). So, yeah, I need some way of keeping it safe. haha. However, I can't seem to find just what I'm looking for. I found something that has inspired me to create my own, however with school starting this upcoming week, I just don't see myself finishing it for myself anytime soon. So, I need something until I can get my butt in gear and form my own custom fit! So, any suggestions? Here is a list of the qualities I am hoping to find: A snug fit (don't want to worry about it falling out) NICE colors (almost everyone I have found so far that I liked has been in awful color combinations that distract my eye rather than aid to the reading) Quality material Preferably a zippered closure, or at least some form of good closure (I'd like to carry it in my purse and/or backpack) An affordable price (my personal budget limit would have to be about 30 dollars... cheaper if I can get it, to keep the hubby happy. haha) Anyone have any suggestions? I like the latitude case from M-Edge okay, but the colors I can't really stand. But I'm posting a link to give you an idea of the type I am leaning towards (however, I am open to any and ALL suggestions! I figure you guys would know a thing or two about these sorts of things! ) Here's the link: http://www.medgestore.com/products/kindletouch1-latitude.psp?device=kindletouch1 (if I get this one, I will go with the purple, even though I can not stand the grey that also comes on it, from looking at it in a store.) Thanks so much you guys! Can't wait to get involved on here! Sincerely, A New Kindle Reader (Heather)

Welcome to Kindle Boards! Congratulations on getting your Kindle, I am so excited for you. When you described the cover you'd like M-Edge popped into my mind but your not keen on those; hopefully someone else will have some specific covers. I can't think of any brands, maybe try searching eBay and Amazon and seeing if any covers from smaller companies come up that suit your needs.

Thank you. Those are actually places I've been searching. I've even been searching sites like etsy and bing just to see if I could find any of the smaller, more customizable ones. I really like the M-Edge ones, don't get me wrong. Like I said, the main fall back I have with them is their choice of colors. They're either too loud (which would be a distraction to someone like me when trying to get lost in a book), or too guyish. Haha. I am going out today to stores like Staples and Best Buy to see if they may have some more in stock to see if I can see in person any more of the M-Edge kindle cover choices. I like their latitude jacket. I adore zippers. I once a long time ago got a purse that had a zipper to close the main part. I adore the way I don't have to worry about anyone getting into it without me noticing, and the way I don't have to fear anything falling out of it in my car. So, I'm all for zippers! haha But yeah. Wish me luck, I guess! I'm tempted into trying to create customizable things like this for other people. I think that would be great! I'm still researching into products to make study, dependable products though. And figuring out if I'd have the time with school, work, and everything. Haha. Wish me luck, again! We shall see. I just don't like settling and I feel there are many more who would prefer to not settle for something like this. Hm... Anywho. Anyone else have any Kindle jacket suggestions? I don't want a sleeve. I want the ability for it to open, similar to a book, per-say. Let me know if anyone else has found a cover they really like, or that they know is a reliable brand. I don't want to have to worry about it falling apart. n_n Thanks so much!!

I adore the way I don't have to worry about anyone getting into it without me noticing, and the way I don't have to fear anything falling out of it in my car. So, I'm all for zippers! haha I understand, it is great to have the Kindle protected from anything that could slip between the cover and screen and damage it. If you can't find a zippered cover that you like, maybe get a different style of cover and then get an eReader bag to put the Kindle with its cover in it. This would open a wider selection of covers but still keep the Kindle completely protected in a zippered bag. I have an eReader bag made from PG4003 (Patricia) on this board and I definitely recommend her. You can see her work on this thread: http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php/topic,86610.0.htmlBorsabella also has eReader bags.

That's a neat idea! That's kind of like how I do my netbook. I have a zippered bag that I put it into for protection (it's cushion-y), and then another bag I slip it into that is velcro for when I take it to school. haha. Looking for ease of use, though, I don't think that's what I'd prefer, but at least it is a good suggestion for me to consider! Thanks, again! n_n Which Kindle do you have, and what kind of books do you enjoy reading? And which cover(s) do you have specifically again? n_n

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Rocketfish%26%23153%3B+-+My+Way+E-Reader+Case+for+Kindle%2C+Kindle+Touch%2C+Kindle+Touch+3G+and+Kobo+Touch+-+Black/3812754.p?id=1218437506018&skuId=3812754&st=rocketfish%20touch&cp=1&lp=1I got this case before Christmas. It's not a zippered closure, but it does have an elastic band that keeps it nicely closed. The three little tabs on the band are removable, so you can change the color, if you want. The inside is soft, and there's a pocket. What I like about this case is that it's "low profile" and even with the case on, I can easily slip it into a sleeve. It's not leather, but it has a nice feel to it. The four elastic bands on the corners hold the Kindle really snugly (but it's easy to get it into them. When I had my K2, it seems I tried cover after cover until I found one I liked. This is the first one I bought for my Touch, and I haven't even looked at any other covers, because I like this one so much. The other thing I like is that when I fold the cover back, I can slip the elastic around it, then just stick my hand between the covers for reading. That leaves my thumb free to tap the page to turn, and the Kindle's so light, it stays right in place.

Hi! If I may ask, what color or colors would you like to see as options? I would be happy to assist you in any way that I can (and could even give you a promo code to cut down on the cost and keep your husband happy) just let me know!

Hoosiermama, thanks for the suggestion! I looked at a version of that one in stores the other day. I'm not into leather at all. I much prefer some sort of cloth-like feel. Thanks for the suggestion, though! I liked the customizable feature, but I just can't let go of the fear of something getting between the cover and the screen in my purse or wherever and messing it up. n.n; haha I think I'm leaning towards the M-Edge Latitude jacket, though, because I still have yet to hear back from Timbuk2 about whether or not they will be making any more of their blue cover... And I also have to deal with the fact that it is open on the top and bottom, like the cover you showed me. Miss Jackie, thanks so much for the quick replies! I appreciate that so much. My favorite color is green. I could find some pictures of the greens I think may work well for a cover with the material you guys use, if you'd like? I also really like the multi-color design Timbuk2 has for the blue one that I posted a picture of on a more recent post. You can check it out there, as I have a specific link to the color I like. It's a light blue, grey, and tan cover. For most of the colors I have seen on the site for you guys, they are colors that can look one way online, and different in person. Hence why I'm trying to find a purple to look at in person before I commit to buying due to price. If you have any promo codes, oh please, let me know! I would appreciate ANY help I could get. That was the one thing my husband didn't like about it. He was like "it looks like it would work fine, but certainly you can find it for cheaper somewhere." I've been trying, trust me. haha And thanks SO much, yet again!!

Good luck with your search! Finding just the right cover can be a challenge, especially when so many of them are just online. I much prefer some sort of cloth-like feel Just to let you know...this is a cloth cover. Not sure what material, but it's definitely cloth, and when the elastic is around the cover, nothing can get between. I only offered this up, because you mentioned above about slipping it into a sleeve with the cover on. Sounds like MEdge might be a resource for you!

Ah, green! I love green, so do others here. However, I am sad to say that the last green we developed was not very popular and now our Product Development team is working up a better one. So we don't currently have anything for the Kindle Touch in green. As for being able to see the colors in person, if you can't find one that you like in a retail store (we sell in Staples, Target, Best Buy, Walmart, and others) we do offer free shipping both ways to our customers in the lower 48 States. Our free shipping is via FedEx SmartPost and while it is the slowest shipping option, it is free! But if you don't like the product, for any reason, contact us and we will send you a label to return it. http://www.medgestore.com/about/contact/I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thank you for your interest in M-Edge Accessories!

Hoosiermama, thanks so much! n_n I just ordered mine, thanks to the help of Miss Jackie! n_n Everyone had such praise about it, and M-Edge seems to be very responsive to their customers questions, so I decided they would be the best bet for now! I still like the Timbuk2 bag, but they are too slow in replying. Oh well. Maybe next time! Then I can have one for at home use, and one for on the go use! Here's to wishing. hehe Thanks so much for all of your help, Miss Jackie! I appreciate all the thought SO much! And yes, ma'am! Green is the best color. So long as they don't go neon green. The more rich greens usually work better in selling products. Think of a forest more than the grass, you know? Anywho. Just so you know, my cover finally arrived! I have been using it for the past 2 days. I believe it will work for my current needs, until I can make my own. I'm so excited! I've been able to carry it around with me, thanks to the zipper feature. Read my Kindle today while waiting to begin a job interview. I'll wait a few more days for testing before leaving any feedback/reviews on the site, though. Thanks so much for ALL of the help and assistance! I appreciate it SO much! And Cardinal, thanks! The Oberon covers are simply beautiful! Can't afford them myself. I will def. be putting some on my Christmas wish list! How do you like the Amazon lighted cover?
