For the love of all that is holy I am about to toss my Kindle out the window.  When I first got back to Afghanistan my Kindle would stay connected to my wireless network without any issues.  now however it sees the d*mn thing but will NOT do squat about it.  I can force it to connect sometimes but if I'm lucky it will last a minute or two.  Then it drops it and that's the end of that.  I have been dealing with Kindle support for a week and the wifi guys tell me that I need to add the network.  It's been added.  A dozen times.  I might as well bang my head against a brick wall.

Now they just want to send me a new one.  Um guys, STILL IN AFGHANISTAN!!!  And when I sent the LAST replacement back you guys claimed you didn't get it for 3 freaking months and charged me for it!  WTH?  I love my Kindle, but every. single. one. I have had has been replaced as least once.  This is getting asanine.

Suggestions?

If you have access to the router, I'd suggest rebooting it. That very often solves the issue that you're seeing.

Labyrinth--

Addressing the "send it back" issue, I remember you had the problem with the return before.  And because you are in Afghanistan, I'm not sure if this works for you.  But I had to return something to Amazon recently, and had a pre-approved label that they sent me.  I asked for, and received, a receipt from the post office indicating that they had received a package with the tracking number that Amazon provided.  So, if something happens, I can prove it got received by the post office.

Let us know if you have any luck with Jeff's suggestion.

I had this problem as well, and ended up calling my service provider. They 'boosted' my WiFi connection in my house, so we'll see how that works. So far so good.

Insanely unhappy with Kindle support at this point.

I have rebooted both the Kindle and the router a number of times.  None of it helps.  Kindle tech says that the Kindle is connecting to the wifi just fine after looking at the logs.  I beg to differ.  Amazon sent me a new K... TO MY HOUSE! after I told them a number of times I wasn't in the country AND they stated they'd send it to my APO address.  "Well, isn't there someone at your house?"  NO you idiots!!!  *headdesk*  Repeatedly.  Then I get told the reason it was sent to my home address is because they won't send a Kindle out of the country.  Um, first, an APO address IS  US address.  And second, if this was an issue why did they offer to send to to my APO to begin with and when it was discovered there was an issue why wasn't I contacted?

After getting the run around from customer service for more than an hour I gave up.  I guess I'm just not going to have a functioning Kindle, at least until I can get home to receive it.

At this point, as much as I love reading on my K, I wouldn't buy another one.  Tired of getting the lemons.

Betsy: I pointed this out as well and only got a mumbled answer of "Well, I don't know what happened with that one".  If I were home I could prove when it was shipped as well because I do have the paperwork from when I sent it I believe.  Unfortunately it's sitting on my kitchen counter at home and they want no part of it.
