I don't mean buying a book on Amazon and gifting it to someone with a Kindle, I mean buying a book for myself, reading it, and then giving it to someone else.
This doesn't break any copyright laws if I'm not illegally distributing a copywritten piece of material, and I'm not profiting from this.
So is giving a book I'm done reading to another Kindle user possible? (Not interested in hacks or jail breaking the Kindle(s)).

It would violate the Amazon terms of service, unless done with their lending program, and in addition, not all publishers allow lending.

would be better employed keeping rabbits.

With a paper book, you can physically hand it to someone else. You can't do that with an e-book, what you are doing is making a copy of it, and that is illegal. If lending is authorized for the book, you can lend it, or the person might be able to find the e-book at the library. But you can't legally give them a copy, even if you delete your copy. Amazon's terms of service aren't really the issue, copyright law is.

Copyright law, which is very complicated, is beyond the scope of this forum...I suggest you contact a copyright attorney. (And if you don't like the response you get, you can always contact a different attorney.) You can, of course, challenge Amazon's TOS in court.  Until then, in this forum, all we can advise is what the Kindle Terms of Service say, that you agreed to by purchasing and keeping the Kindle or using their apps.

And the TOS are that Kindle content is leased, not owned, and is not transferrable.

If you are talking about non-Kindle books, that would depend on the DRM and the TOS of the site from which you downloaded the books.
