I recently tried the paging query on my Kindle 3 by pressing the Menu button while reading my book..which leads me to ask..are these kindle books from Amazon complete? Paging will go for eg: from page 3 to page 5...and skips pages throughout the read..recently downloaded and read the first three books in the Emily Stone series..These three books where horribly copied ie..Names of the characters are typed in as emily and rick ..no capitals...every few pages, a line will unexplicably end in the middle of the page and carriage return with the name of the author (Jennifer Chase) printed ..it just seems like this series is full of errors..I guess they are never proof read...but the page number thing is what I wonder most about..ie are these the full books or abbreviated versions..none are listed as novellas..

Thanks

Kindle books are normally full books.  It sounds like you may have a Kindle Touch, and may be swiping or tapping too long.

Proofreading is another matter.  Some publishers don't seem to care.  You can return the book to Amazon within 7 days.

Not sure what you mean by "paging query".

Paging query= simply to find out what page I was on by pressing the Menu Button...
This is the Kindle that I have in the picture.

I am not over pressing on the page turn button as the sentence which terminates on the previous page continues on the following one...
Maybe it was just the books I have tried recently

Not all books have page numbers.

First, there has to be an associated paper edition for the kindle edition. Many independently published books aren't published in paper at all so there are no 'page numbers' to associate.

Second, you have to have synced up so that the Kindle knows that.  This usually isn't a problem if you have wireless on frequently but, for example, if you got a book 3 years ago -- before they had any pages at all -- and haven't had wireless on since (unlikely, I know) -- the Kindle wouldn't know that that file now had an associated 'page number' file.

Finally, if you're reading on, say, the tiniest font, and in the associated paper edition the print is larger on a smaller page, it might very well be that you start on page 3 but when you click to go on and check again you're on page 5.

But the books you describe do sound like they were converted from a scan of a paper copy with minimal proofing.  Sadly, it happens pretty frequently.

Thanks , but I download new books every week or so..do its definately in sync...could be the font difference I suppose...
the first two books in the series I mentioned were horrible..must have sorted something out on their end before the 3rd book came out..it doesnt include those errors the first two books had...thanks for taking the time
