I've had a browse down the list to see if this has been asked before but I can't see it and I can't see a search option.

I've created some collections on my Kindle but I'm a bit surprised to see that the books are still appearing in the home page as well as on the page for the collection. This seems a bit counter intuitive. I expected that, once the book was added to the collection, it would no longer appear on the home page and I'd find it by opening the collection. If this isn't the case I find myself wondering what the point of collections is. As soon as you open a book within a collection it jumps to the top of the home page right along side the collection that you've just opened so, effectively, you are seeing it twice.

Am I missing something here about how collections are supposed to be used?

You should select "Sort by Collections" at the top of the Kindle screen.  That will remove books in collections from the Home Page.

You can have books displayed on the Home screen by "Most Recent First," "Title," "Author," or "Collections." If you have it set to "Collections," the Home screen will display as you want it to, with the most recently accessed collection showing first. The individual books that you have assigned to a collection(s) won't show on the Home screen when displayed by "Collections." It sounds like you have selected one of the other three options.

To change the way the Home screen displays, move up to the top of your Kindle screen, where it says "Showing all __ Items." On the Kindle Keyboard model, you then use the right arrow and select from the choices there. I'm not sure how it works on the other Kindles. If you're not able to figure it out, I'm sure someone can help you if you let us know which Kindle you have. This information may be in the user's guide for your particular model too.

I hope that helps.

See this in the FAQ for the K3/Keyboard.

It holds true for the Basic and Touch kindles as well. Smiley

One difference, however, is that on the Keyboard and Basic Kindles, the Collections will be listed automatically by most recently accessed.  On the Touch, they're always alphabetical.

Okay I get it now. They become more relevant if you have it configured to list collections first. I've played with that but always put it back to most recent read. Now I'm building up a collection, especially with all the impulse downloads, I might have to put everything in collections and use it that way as it's just a pain finding things otherwise.

Cheers
