I joined the boards yesterday and one of the people who welcomed me was Imogen Rose. I was drawn to her books in her signature and bought Portal.

Well thanks to Imogen I got nothing done today as spent the day reading Portal which I have just finished. It's a great read. It should be a movie, as all the way through I was thinking - oh I'd love to watch the movie of this!

I love syfy with a physics twist but what was good about this was that the life/love element came though with just as much (if even more) strength. It has a great relatability (does this word exist?) to YA readers but I'm older than that bracket and I loved it too.

I don't want to give away the story but it basically covers a parallel time slip scenario amidst teenage growth issues, friendship and love. What I really liked about it though was that most of the people in the book got on. This is so refreshing as so many books play on the whole 'they don't get on until they understand each other at the very end' dynamics and this book was so not like that.

Now the question is, can I hold off on the next book until tomorrow as if i get it now I won't sleep!

Great job Imogen! Find a movie rights agent is my advice!

ps My vote is for Zooey Deschanel as Arizona!

Good thing Imogen didn't leave you hanging with just one book.  Looks like you have 3 more books in the series to devour.

Great books by the way, Imogen.

As my signature indicates, I just read Portal the other day. I also older than the supposed market for YA -- by at least double. Undecided

I say that for the movie they find someone completely new. She'll play the part, then the series, and be hopelessly typecast as Arizona until she stars on Broadway and wins a Tony. Still, she will joke in an interview that she knows when she dies the obits will all start refer to her as "Portal actress, ___ ______" and refer to the fad of pink hockey helmets that swept the country the year the first movie was released. "Don't blame me," she'll say, "it was all Imogen Rose."

Wow, too much beer with dinner. Smiley
