I was told by Kindle support that the cover was causing problems with freezing etc. I am getting a new cover with a $30 credit, but some people are reporting problems with that too.

I like a few things about the cover-- the "leather" (if that is what it is); the rubber band type holder; color choices; etc. But I don't always like it when reading. The cover can get in the way. The cover is thick flipping over.

What about other options? I take it to bed, so there is something to protecting it while I'm reading (I could roll over it?).

Are skins just for looks?

Which cover is causing a problem with which Kindle?   I thought the only cover problems were the non-lighted cover with the K3 and that was last year.

And to answer your question concerning the skins, yes, they are more just for decoration. They provide light damage protection, such as a scratch to the back of the Kindle or some such, but I wouldn't suggest buying them with protection in mind. They are more for appeal than protection. Smiley

This. I love skins but they're mostly just pretties. They lend a nice personal touch too.

Yes, it's the unlighted case from 2010, but I read of people continuing to have problems with the updated case. I haven't read that here-- it was on the Amazon board.  We'll see as it being shipped to me.

On further thought I think I want a case:
Last night I read it without the case, and didn't like it so well. I think it is hard to hold. Also I read in bed and it could fall off the bed. However, any options aside from the Kindle one? I am feel it interferes with reading. The cover is quite thick (good for protection I guess), but you have to read it like a hard cover book and not even like a well-worn paperback.
